“I am interested in the animate nature and the relationship between the material and the transcendent. Such as how a still object, a moment or a view can have a radiance and presence, which opens up to a place beyond the object itself. An aesthetic experience of a relationship being made clear. Within the framework of this artistic search, I work with sculpture, image and installation. Realistic depictions meet materiality and concepts. The motifs are taken from my surroundings and from travel – objects, nature and landscape. In my research I read philosophy, poetry, religion and sociology.”
Erik Funck
Erik has a bachelor’s degree from Valand Academy of Fine Arts and has also studied art at Folkhögskolan in Angered and at Göteborgs Konstskola. Erik works from the studio collective Kedjan in Gothenburg.
