Lotta Eriksson

Lust for Life       painting       August   2 – 16   2025

Opening    Saturday Aug 2   at 12 – 16

Lotta Eriksson: ”Even in the silence of the world, existence deserves to be embraced,” writes philosopher Albert Camus. A life that offers us only a pale copy of the day before is absurd, he says, and calls for constant revolt to make sense of life. Art, as well as music or other creative expressions, can be seen as an opportunity to break the absurd and allow us to fill our existence with something other than the superficial, fragmentary and fast-paced existence our modern lives offer. It is in a spirit of resistance that I invite you to my part of this exhibition.
Behind Art Persona is me, Lotta Eriksson. Through art, I try to reach the intuitive in our human being. My art has been filtered through the dynamics of my own mind and a process of immediacy. In my art I am strongly influenced by the roles and masks we humans have the ability to protect ourselves behind in interaction with others. Psychoanalyst Carl Jung calls these masks Personas.
I strongly believe that authenticity lies not in what society values as beautiful, but rather in the way the soul responds to the world. What I’m trying to convey is a conviction that art happens when you dare to look beyond the result. The rest I leave to the eye of the beholder.
